Colombo Night Race is a concept mooted by Electric Peacock Festival and jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Automobile Sports Association (SLAS) the governing body of motor sports in Sri Lanka along with the Federation of Motorcycle Sports in Sri Lanka (FMSSL) plus member racing clubs and the Red Cherry Entertainment.

Namal Rajapaksa MP takes oaths as Attorney at Law today

Sri Lanka President's son Namala Rajapaksa, MP for Hambantota district, will take oaths as an Attorney-at-Law Thursday.

Following his father's footsteps, the 25-year-old parliamentarian is to take oaths as a lawyer tomorrow morning at the Supreme Court before a tri-member bench of Supreme Court judges headed by Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake.

Around 250 students qualified as lawyers are in the process of taking oaths in Supreme Court as batches of around 60 a day, judiciary sources say.

Namal Rajapaksa was elected to the parliament with highest number of preferential votes in 2010 from Hambantota district.

Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapakse Theater (Pictures)

The President is scheduled to declare open the newly constructed national performance art theatre built on the Lotus Pond (Nelum Pokuna) concept of Polonnaruwa, on December 15.

The theatre was constructed with the expertise from China at a cost of Rs. 3.08 billion.

The five-storied building comprises a main theater with a seating capacity of 1,288 seats and an open air theater on the top floor. The theater houses a three tier movable stage. It also comprises two exhibition halls, thirteen rehearsal halls, parking facilities for 500 vehicles, library, and training facilities.

The theatre, equipped with ultra-modern equipment will have facilities to conduct educational and research activities.
